About Me

Born and raised in the borderlands of El Paso, TX, I experience myself as what Chicana philosopher Gloria Anzaldua calls a neplantera: a person who  lives in the liminal and often uncomfortable thresholds between different cultures, identities, realities, or worldviews.

From the in-between, I often find myself studying polarities to understand what bridges can be built between them. I believe that the very things that often divide us - politics, religion, and differences in ideology - carry the seed of what is longing to bring us back home to one another. Photography, as an art form, helps me to attune my vision to look for these bridges and moments of connection.

Though my beliefs, interests, passions, temperament, and worldview have all transformed over the years, I can say that a few things have remained consistent: I have always been and continue to be a  lover of books, a student of life, and a spiritual seeker. Everything else is subject to change.

I received my BFA in Visual Art Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and my Master's in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I currently reside in Washington, DC.
